Abstrakt Algebra were formed by Leif Edling, following the initial breakup of his former band, Candlemass. Desiring to move somewhat away from the pure doom of Candlemass, their material is more in the technical power metal mold, along the lines of Nevermore or perhaps Hexenhaus. Work began on a second album with a different lineup. But Edling took some of the ideas for that second album, as well as drummer Jejo Perkovic, and reformed Candlemass. Thus, Abstrakt Algebra were over.

I bought this CD for about $1, and you bet it was worth it. Although not a frequent player, it's not a bad disc. Their sound is quite hard to put a label on. Listen to the opening track, and you will see why this disc is worth having. I think the songs could have been a little more in the same style, as it gets a bit messy when the band changes from song to song. Some reminds me a lot of Candlemass, other songs are just not understandable.

Killer tracks: Stigmata, Abstrakt Algebra
