ABSURD² (2004) ENDTIME (EP)

Consisting of members from bands like Silver, Extol, Benea Reach and Vardøger, Absurd² is sort of a Norwegian extreme metal super-group. The first sign of life from them was their contribution to the Endtime Production compilation, named 'In The Shadow Of Death'. The song "Wisdom" appeared there, but I'm not sure if it's the same version that is on this short EP. They do however sounds pretty much the same. The liner-notes on the sampler also lists one Lucia as the bands female vocalist, be she is nowhere to be found here.

Absurd² plays a blend of technical thrash metal and black metal. They can be compared to Believer, Cynic, Death (latter albums) and Extol (on 'Synergy'). An man, what a showcase in technical extreme metal this short EP really is! Blistering riffs, shrieking vocals, odd twists and turns, and with progressive yet neck breaking accuracy. You never know what is coming next, but you urge to get to know! Simply outstanding! Too bad we only get 3 songs, because I want more!
