American Christian metal band. Started under the name Second Chance. I've seen them being compared to old Savatage and Metal Church. But I would say they can be likened to Saint, Titanic and maybe Mercy Rule. Their drummer went on to play with Raven.

Armageddon is one of many underground Christian metal band from the 80's, that have seen a cult following, and almost growing fan base, long after the departure of the band. The band was first introduced to the world through the East Coast Metal' compilation from Regency Records. Back then they were named Second Chance. But in time for releasing what was going to be their one and only album, they changed their name to Armageddon. 'The Money Mask' delivers some cool '80s power metal. They have a very American sound, and are a lot less "fluffy" then most of their other Christian contemporaries. Think 'Power Of The Night' by Savatage, or 'Fighting For The Earth'-era Warrior. Today this album has become a highly sought after item, and are constantly being bootlegged. This might also be due to the fact that their drummer went on to play for Raven. But I choose to think that the quality of the music is what makes it a popular metal gem.

Killer tracks: Mercenaries Of Injustice, (Liberation From) Blazing Wasteland, The Judge

Armageddon's former guitarist contacted me after stumbling across my website. Here's what he had to say:

Hello Metal Metropolis,

I was very pleased to find Armageddon included on your band listing. As a former member of the band, I can offer some added insight that may be worth revising your write up. The line-up that appears on 'The Money Mask' was more or less a studio project with Mike Vance and Rob Lee as the nucleus. During that time, both Dan Wilkinson and I were both members of Taker and he was "on loan" to Mike and Rob for the recording. Joe Hasselvander was already a member of Raven and was doing this on the side as a friend of Mike and Rob's. Mark Miley was the other drummer on the album. Sometime after the recording, Taker called it quits and Mike and Rob snagged both Dan and I to become permanent members along with a drummer named Scott St. James. So the official line-up became:

Mike Vance - Vocals

Rob Lee - Lead guitar

PJ Bussey (me) Lead guitar

Dan Wilkinson - Bass

Scott St. James - Drums

This line-up actually became much tighter than the studio line-up and there was major label interest. It all fell apart upon the arrest and incarceration of Mike.
