Edenbridge was founded as a studio-project by guitarist/keyboarder Lanvall, bassist Kurt Bednarsky and vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher in 1998. They are from Austria, and play Angelic Bombast Metal! If you are into bands like Lab˙rinth, Magnitude 9, Rhapsody and Nightwish, Edenbridge might be of your taste.

I discovered this band as openers for Metalium, on the 'Hero-Nation' tour. I was so impressed, I bought both their albums at the concert! Edenbridge aren't all that original, but they do have their own sound. Bands with female vocalists usually either play much more mainstream music, or much more brutal music. But Edenbridge has a sound not unlike Stratovarius or Lab˙rinth. And that is no drawback, in my opinion. Lanvall is the mastermind behind this band. And he has written most of the material, produced it, and plays all guitars and keyboards. And on top off all the great musicianship floats Sabine's angelic voice. She has a beautiful voice, not unlike Sarah Brightman. At first I thought it would get kinda boring after a while, but it didn't. I like this album as a whole, and what an incredible debut this is! All I can say is: GET IT!
Got my copy signed by most members at the concert.

INCREDIBLE, is the first word that comes to mind. Edenbridge have surpassed themselves, and deliver a masterpiece! You take a winning formula, and ad more of everything, without being cliché! I love each and every track on here, including the intro. Maybe I'll get tired of it after a while, but for now, it just stays in my player! Check out "Into The Light", and get hooked. A MUST!

After really listening extensively to this bands first 2 albums, I got kind of burnt out on their music. Therefore I've held back writing anything about this album for over a year. And after giving it some spins, I cannot honestly say that I like this one as much as I did the others. The musicianship is still very good, and especially Lanvall sounds really great! His neo-classical style fits the symphonic metal like a glove. But that doesn't help the fact that most of the songs tend to blend into each other, and fail to sound like separate tunes. Much of the blame for that have to go to Sabine's vocal lines. They lack variation, and tend to get almost boring. She has a lovely voice, but she needs to learn to use it in some different ways to keep it more interesting. I know that a write-up like this might seem that I am all negative towards 'Aphelion', but believe me, I'm not. I actually dig most of what this album has to offer. It's just that my initial excitement for this band has cooled off quite a bit, so I don't get as enthusiastic as I was with 'Arcana' and 'Sunrise In Eden'. I would still urge any fan of this bands music, or symphonic metal w/female vocals in general, to check this CD out too. My limited edition version comes with a bonus track, and a 3D cover. Also look out for a guest appearance by D.C. Cooper (Royal Hunt).
