Technical death metal band from Australia. This band were fired from their record-company, because they didn't want to tour. And now they supposedly doesn't exist any more. Sound like a cross between Paramaecium and Living Sacrifice.

I read so many good thing about this album, I was very pleased when I finally scored a copy. The music is very well produced, and it doesn't take long to discover that these are fine musicians. Jared Murray's vocals is one of the most convincing death metal grunts I have heard in years! But even though Ethereal Scourge play doomy death metal, they do it with a twist. They also add in the element of worship, creating this ethereal sound and feel to the music. After I had listened to the entire album, I sat with a notion that something big had hit my stereo. But while listening to it, I didn't quite get it. Don't get me wrong, the album is good, but the songs just didn't stick, at all. After some more spins I expect this album to grow immensely. But for years this did not happen. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they reminded me of Paramaecium and Living Sacrifice, 2 other bands I never got too attached to either. But one day in 2007 I played the album once more, and it totally opened up to me. I heard similarities from everyone from Sepultura to Schaliach, and I really loved what I heard. I will most definitely return to this CD more often from now on.
