Norwegian slow death metal meets straight heavy metal. Nearest comparison is Schaliach. These guys were from Sarpsborg (same as me), but exist no more. Some of the members are now in a band called Ravenlord.

BEGINNING OF THE END (1995) DEMO

  1. Intro/Dreams Of Disease
  2. Incurable
  3. Master Of Misery
  4. Blowing Mind

Line-up:

Steinar: Bass and Voice

Magne: Drums

Zahir: Guitar

Geir: Guitar

Steinar (vocals and bass) is a very good friend of mine, and it was he who gave me this demo-CD. Shortly after this band was laid to rest. I like this demo, and played it over and over when it was new. Excelsis played their own kind of metal, which I find hard to put into any category. Steinar's voice fit in the death metal box, but the music isn't fast and furious, like death metal often is. It's not technical, but kinda slow and doomy. Schaliach is a band I compare them too. I guess this CD has more value to the people involved. Norway's Scream Magazine reviewed it as a regular release (and not a demo), and gave it 4/6! My favorite track is "Incurable". It took me forever to get a scan of this cover, and when I managed to get a friend to help me, the result wasn't very good either. But It'll do for now.
