I'm beginning to believe that Slaney Records is on a mission to pick up all of the yet unsigned bands in the New Wave of Thrash Metal scene. Fatal is their latest outing so far, in 2009. Here they are represented with 3 tracks of moshing pleasure.
'The Law' is this Tampa-based bands second EP, and only 275 of these were printed. Fatal plays fast and furious thrash metal. The speed is mostly neck breaking, and reminds me of those early Slayer and Dark Angel records. However, hailing from Florida, it's almost obligatory to add some death metal influences to the viciousness. Fatal does this by wedging in some down-tempo parts here and there. This helps the otherwise insanely speedy compositions to breathe, and it also sets the band apart from the horde of new thrash metal acts out there. Fatal also seems to have a knack for writing rather long songs.
I enjoyed all of the 3 tracks on this limited US tour EP. But I think "Synthetic Satisfaction" is my favorite. It's an 8 minute and counting thrash metal opus.
CAST INTO FILTH (2010) SLANEY RECORDS (EP)

Tampa's Fatal are upon us again with yet another EP. 4 new tracks of neck breaking thrash metal have been recorded, and released upon an unsuspecting world.
This time the band sound even more fierce than the last time. Where 'The Law' pointed more towards the innocent days of early thrash metal pioneering, these 4 new songs shows a band in growth, leaning more towards a newer mix of blackened thrash and death metal. It's a more mature product, and the songwriting has definitely taken a big step up. The playing is more technical, and even though this is as relentless and aggressive as the last EP, and then some, it is clear that the band members have really honed their skills since last time.
The only downside to 'Cast Into Filth' is the production, or lack thereof. This sounds more like a garage demo than something recorded in a studio in 2010. I might be totally off the wall with this comment though, for this might have been exactly the way it was intended, for all I know. Still, this is yet another product from a band that sticks out a bit in the ever growing New Wave Of Old School Thrash Metal.
