With a history fronting bands such as Coven and World Funeral, Frost Like Ashes guitarist Sebat founded the band in the year 2001 with the drive to create a style and sound that would be recognized and still continue to push the black metal envelope. Acquiring former members of the band Possession in Azahel on vocals and Adonijah on Drums, the line up was quickly coming together as the vision for the band unified and grew. Syntyche was found to play bass and the business of crafting music was begun.

Frost Like Ashes from USA were one of they earlier Christian extreme metal bands. You might call it black metal, but the truth is, they are mixing in just as  much death metal to their music. 'Pure As The Blood Covered Blood' was the bands first EP, released on the now defunct Sounds Of The Dead Records. The music is ok for what it is, but I can't say that I get all that much out of it. "Adorers Of Blood" is a cool song though. Azahel's shrieking makes me think of Cradle Of Filth, but the music is not very comparable to this English band. "After Forever" is a terrible cover of a Black Sabbath song, noticeable for being the first metal song with what can be considered as Christian lyrics.
