Another band in the Swedish melodic death metal genre. Hearse saw the light of day when the 2 former Furbowl buddies, Johan Liiva and Max Thornell, decided to yet again start a band together. Johan had just been let go from Arch Enemy. Hearse' music can be described as a mix between Arch Enemy and Entombed, but with loads of classic-sounding twin-guitar work added.

The Swedish melodic death metal scene have grown huge in the last few years. And if you wanna make yourself a name in this genre these days, you'll have to be quite spectacular. Only time will tell if Hearse will stand the test of time. Their debut album is called 'Dominian Reptilian', and contains several noteworthy tracks. It's obvious already in the opening moments that these guys mean business. The first thing that struck me were the killer guitar-work. I love the twin-guitar sound they have going on, and it gives Hearse a sound of their own. I know Arch Enemy also have such an element in their music, but Hearse takes it one step further! Johan's voice gets a bit monotonous in the long run, and this is probably the one thing that drags the album a bit down. There are also some filler songs in the mid-section of the CD. To sum it up, the tracks that are good on this record are awesome, and sends a message that this band might produce great things in the future. But I'm not sure that their debut will be a regular in my silver-disc spinner.
Killer tracks: Dominion Reptilian, Torch, Cosmic Daughter, End Of Days, So Vague
