King's-Evil was formed by 2 brothers from Tokyo - Japan, in 1989. Their main goal was to perform at a local venue, called 'Pedestrian Paradise', doin' covers. They did so numerous times up to 1993, when the band were forced to take a hiatus due to members leaving. But in 1998 the band once again reformed, and in 2001 their debut album saw the light of day. This Japanese band play thrash metal, influenced by the American wave as much as the European wave of the genre. So a mix of Kreator, Sodom, Coroner, Slayer, Metallica and Sepultura might give you a clue.

Japanese thrash metal!!!! WOW, what a blast this album is. These guys combine the best of both thrash-metal waves, sounding like a hybrid between the American and European thrash scene. And what really takes my breath away is that they do it with such conviction. All the players do their jobs well. And since their singer uses a raspy growling, you don't get the typical accent. If I have to say anything negative about it, it would first and foremost be the horrible cover-art. I actually debated owning this album or not, solely based on the putrid picture. Secondly I have to say that the album is a bit to homogeneous, and it gets a bit tiresome after a while. But if you love thrash metal, you are bound to enjoy this album. I had a big grin all over my face on the first listen, and just thinking about it now, the grin is back!

Killer tracks: Detonation, Web Of Lies, Punish With Death
