In Timo's main band there is not much room for writing songs, as the other Timo in Stratovarius takes care of that part most of the time. Therefore Mr. Kotipelto decided to record a solo-album. 'Waiting For The Dawn' is the result. The overall sound does not differ all that much from his main band, and some of these tracks could have easily fit on any of Stratovarius' albums. So the most prominent differences must be that the sound is more straight forward, with a more dominant keyboard, and the lack of Timo Tolkki's guitar-playing. But who needs a Finnish ego-maniac when you can get people like Mike Romeo (Symphony X) and Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween) to play for you, right? He does bring with him his band mate, Jari, on bass though. Other guests have their day jobs in bands like Warmen, Thunderstone, Sonata Arctica and Random Eyes, to name some. 'Waiting For The Dawn' is a decent album. In fact, I tend to like it more and more after each spin. I don't think it will bring him any fans that are not already fans on his main band though, as one must tolerate his voice to enjoy this CD. The lyrics on the album seems to form a concept story, but other than that it must be about some old Egyptian tail, I have not read up on it. Got to mention that the artwork is done by none other then Derek Riggs!

Killer tracks: Travel Through Time, Lord Of Eternity, Knowledge And Wisdom, Battle Of The Gods, Arise
