Norwegian technical black metal. Lengsel started out in 1995, and has become one of the most respected bands in their genre. Their name translates into Longing/Yearning. One of the members also plays in Extol.

It took me forever to listen to this disc. I picked it up, but never felt like putting it on. Black Metal just isn't one of my favorite genres. But it turned out that I was missing out! "Solace" is one of the finest releases, by any band in any genre, I've ever heard! The blend of the melodic and acoustic parts, the cacophonous frenzy and the emotional parts, is terrific. Yes, this album is plain and simple AWESOME! It is so varied, it's impossible to get tired of it. I notice new stuff on every listen, and the songs just grows, as you get more and more into them. GET IT!
