Metanoia were started in 1990 in Townsville, Australia, by Steve Bennett. Steve started teaching himself guitar at the ripe old age of 26, in 1986. They needed a bass player, so Lisa Spud was handed a bass guitar, and with some gentle persuasion she started learning. In 1995 Metanoia recorded its heaviest music ever, on the demo 'Akeldama'. These songs also ended up on the Rowe Compilation 'Raise The Dead Soon after Steve Rowe signed Metanoia for a 3 album contract. with Rowe Productions.

"WE DO NOT LIKE BEING CALLED A DEATH METAL BAND THOUGH WE DO PLAY SOME, JUST LIKE WE PLAY BLACK, PUNK, THRASH, CLASSIC, SPEED, GROOVE ETC. WE PREFER TO BE KNOWN AS AN 'EXTREME' METAL BAND."

Very brutal death metal, not unlike Corpse, is what we get here! This is Metanoia's second album, and is supposedly much heavier than the previous one. While I like the music on this disc, I find it hard to listen to much of the record at ones. 3 or 4 songs is OK, but then it gets boring. The songs sound too much alike. Yowie's growls have to be some of the deepest in the metal scene! A bit more variation would not been harmful.

Third, and eventually the last, album from this brutal Australian metal act. They even go one further here, and incorporate some black metal vocals as well. Yowie's grunts are sounding a bit funny, as he sounds like he doesn't know any other vowels than "O". The songs are a bit more diverse here, and that is good. But why mix in rap-elements in "Now Listen Up"?!! A fine disc to own, but not a regular player.
