Formed out of the ashes of the band Thanatopsis, Pale Horse were formed in the late 80's. After losing their original singer in 1990, the band teamed up with Rich Olson formally of the band Voice of Command. The band began practicing, and son they recorded their first demo called 'Soon Comes The Return'. The band was signed immediately by indie label A.R.T. Records out of Florida. In 1993 the band recorded their first records called 'Mournful'. The album sold more than the band could even imagine and became an insanely sought after album in the death metal market. The album featured some great special guests; Johnny P from Mortal Decay, Bill Berends from Mastermind and Chris Carmen from Killroy. The band mixed old school death metal with thrash. Pale Horse incorporated some intense vocal arrangements, incredible guitar hooks, bass lines to die for and masterful drumming. In 2004 Pale Horse signed a deal with Bombworks Records to release all of their songs on one CD. Even the rare recordings of their 'Bitter Fruits of Temptation' EP.

Bombworks Records releases yet another stellar blast from the past. Pale Horse is almost like the legendary band you never heard. But do yourself a favor, and change that, NOW! Because this New Jersey outfit delivers a blend of thrash and death metal so good, it is a travesty that they never got to release it properly back when they were active. While the music for the most part is pure thrash metal, that reminds me more of the European thrash then the US one, the vocals are delivered in a death metal variety. But the band doesn't restrain themselves to only deliver music in said categories. They also blend in some doom metal here and there, and spice it up with clean vocals every now and then. At times the music reminds me of Sepultura in the good old days, and I'm dead serious when I say that Pale Horse were just as good as their Brazilian brothers! 'Until The Last Seal Is Opened...' includes just about every song the band ever recorded, now for the first time available on one CD. Some of the demos are not of the same sound-quality as the rest, but music-wise, it is all top notch. All of the tracks are good, weather the band is thrashing it in 100mph, or when they are slowing it a tad down, and deliver some acoustic parts. The songs are varied, which makes the album exciting. The death vocals fits the unpolished sound of the music really well. In fact, I have nothing bad at all to say about this bands music. I fully recommend Pale Horse and 'Until The Last Seal Is Opened...'.
The band are now back together again, and we can hope for new music, within the same category, during 2005!
