One of the finest power metal bands came from Seattle, Washington. They managed to release 2 albums, before disbanding, and reappearing as Nevermore.

I cannot recall which Sanctuary album I heard first. But I don't remember being very much impressed by this, their first one, anyway. I know that this is regarded as one of the finest metal albums of all times, and I can appreciate the album as a good metal platter. But I don't think it's as good as most people say. If I haven't heard it for a while, I can't even tell the songs apart. None of them stick out in my memory. So I choose to listen to their next effort instead. Note: Dave Mustaine of Megadeth produced this album, and played a guitar-solo on the track "White Rabbit". This track is a cover-tune, but I have no idea who recorded this 60's song originally.
December 2002: A reader emailed me about the song "White Rabbit", and informed me that the original version was recorded by Jefferson Airplane. Thanks Keith!

Now this is more like it! 'Into The Mirror Black' grabs you from the first second, and doesn't let go until the end. This is truly one of the finest power metal moments in the metal-history! And make no mistake about it, this is true power metal! This is not the happy-sounding Euro-metal they label power metal today. This is the unadulterated mix between classic metal and thrash. Warrel's voice is so unique, and puts Sanctuary in a league of their own. Thus making 'Into The Mirror Black' one of the top 5 power metal albums of all time. Unfortunately this was to become the final album from Sanctuary. One extremely rare live-EP was also released, but then it was stop. Some of the band members reappeared as Nevermore.
Killer tracks: Future Tense, Epitaph, The Mirror Black, One More Murder
