This band have continued to defy genre-labels since 1995. Are they prog, goth, electronica or even metal? The only thing most people agree to, is that they are good at what they do! Since first go Saviour Machine has been composing and producing an opus that has been dubbed as “The unofficial soundtrack to the end of the world”.

My first meeting with these guys was through one of my cousins. We used to listen to the same kind of music, and Christian metal bands was a common interest. So he had just bought this album, and wanted to play it for me. I was shocked! This was not metal at all, in my opinion. Suffice to say, I didn't care much for it. Later on I bought a compilation album released by Intense Records, called 'Hot Metal V - Screamin' Truth', and on it was the track "Carnival Of Souls". At first I used to skip the track, but after a while I sort of got used to it, and started to enjoy it. Then, after having listened to that one track for years, I finally got to hear the whole album (my cousin actually gave me his copy, as he no longer listened to it). Saviour Machine's debut is just filled to the brim with moody songs that managed to grab me. It's this feeling of joy and sadness at the same time. I guess hope is the way to describe it. To me the music can be likened to a sea, it just floats, sometimes stormy, but at most times just calm and mellow. Eric Clayton's voice fits perfectly, and makes this band unique. The strange thing for me about this album, is the fact that Terry Taylor produced it. I used to hate what he did with/for Deliverance. But his style suits this music. I love the background vocal arrangements. It's almost like there is a choir present in the background. I think I'll look for some other titles from this band now.
Killer tracks: Carnival Of Souls, Ludicrous Smiles, Jesus Christ
