I remember picking this one up as a new release, without even having heard about the band previously. But when I saw that this band contained one Ole Børud, my interest in the band became sky high. At that time Ole was "famous" in Norway for his participation on the Børud-gjengen albums (recording Christian children songs), together with his brother and sister. But I knew that Ole was a metalhead, and I could not wait to hear 'Sonrise'. But at first I was VERY unhappy with this album. The production was weak, and I could not get into any of the songs. Luckily I gave the album much more time, and learned to cope with the production. Then I really started to get into the songs. What appeared was a genius melodic death metal album, with beautiful songs, and a strong message. I'm not sure who to compare them to, but Excelsis has much of the same vibe, and also Paramaecium sound like a doomier, slower version of Schaliach. This CD was for a very long time out of print, and was highly sought after in the Christian metal circuits. However, Monumentum Scandinavia reissued it in 2005, with completely new artwork, and a bonus track.
Killer tracks: You Maintain, A Father's Mourning, On A Different Day
