American heavy metal, with a singer born in Canada. Skid Row became the hype when it seemed like their brand of shampoo was more important than the actual music. Still this band managed to keep their integrity, until they decided to blow the whole thing off, literary speaking. The Skids are now back, with a brand new line-up.

One of my brothers brought home a vinyl copy of this album, that he had borrowed from a friend. I ended up being the one who listened to it the most. At that time Skid Row had not become the huge MTV band yet, so I had discovered a new band to watch out for. But it didn't take long before the rest of the world caught on to this band too. Especially the 2 ballads "18 And Life" and "I Remember You" got massive play on the music video programs. And I would have to say that these are the 2 tracks that has stood the test of time the best also. There are a couple of other good rockers present, but as a whole this album doesn't really do much for me any more.
Killer tracks: Piece Of Me, 18 And Life, Youth Gone Wild, Makin' A Mess, I Remember You

Skid Row's second release pretty much takes off where the debut left off. It's a bit harder, or more angry, and with a richer production. Again I find that many of the songs just don't sit all that well, but the ones that do are phenomenal. Sebastian's voice is incredible. And 'Slave To The Grind' is a more solid album than the self titled one. This should be in any headbangers collection. My version is the European uncensored version. In the US there was also released a version without the track "Get The Fuck Out".

A nice EP with covers of the Skid's favorite tunes. The band have always done various KISS covers live, so the inclusion of "C'Mon And Love Me" is no surprise. The Judas Priest cover sees one Rob Halford as guest singer! I also enjoy the Jimi Hendrix cover. Kudos on the artwork too.
