The story of Slechtvalk started back in 1997, when Shamgar wrote some extreme songs for different projects. By putting songs in MP3-format on the internet, he gained a lot of fans. Finally Shamgar decided to use the name Slechtvalk, the Dutch name for the bird of extremes. At that time it was still a one-man-project, and not a real band as it is today. Soon he was signed by the Fear Dark label, a natural decision, as both the band and the label are from Holland. After the release of the first album, Shamgar decided to get other members, and make Slechtvalk a full band. |

Holland is not the most common place for black metal, as least not that I know of. Nevertheless, Slechtvalk is a Dutch black metal band. On this split-CD they deliver their brand of symphonic black metal, not unlike other Christian acts like Antestor (a band they do a terrific cover of in "Kongsblod) and Sanctifica. This is also the debut for Slechtvalk. On the first album Shamgar was the only member, but here they have become a full band. The 3 original songs represented here are all very well written. I'm really impressed enough to want to check out more of what this band have to offer.
Also worth noticing is that this split CD (also containing Kekal) is called 'Chaos & Warfare'. I think Kekal is representing the Chaos, and Slechvalk is mean to be the Warfare part.
