Sons of Angels was formed in 1988 when longtime songwriter-partners Torstein and Lars K. decided to start a band. They had already had several no.1 hits in their native Norway. After the process of having auditions all over Scandinavia they discovered vocalist Solli (21 Guns, Psycho Motel). Soon after they line-up was completed with the Swedish guitar-wizard Staffan William-Olsson and Norwegian drummer Geir Digernes. The band recorded some smoking demos, and went straight to L.A., with just one single label name in their pocket. In just two weeks they had 3 major labels interested; MCA, Warner Bros. and Atlantic. The bands next move was to have those labels coming to Oslo to see the band live. They decided to go with Atlantic. This was summer of 1989 and already in November the band found themselves recording their eponymous titled debut-album in Cherokee Studios in L.A.

There weren't that many bands from Norway that made a name for themselves in the heavy metal/hard rock scene. But Sons Of Angels managed to do so. This self titled debut spawned a hit with the opening track, "Cowgirl", and got heavy MTV airplay after it's release. I also bet most of you have heard the fabulous ballad "Could It Be Love". The band relocated from Oslo to L.A. and were to be the next big thing. Unfortunately not much else happened. The band just disappeared. Now this album is long out of print, and have become a hot collectors item. And if you ever get to hear it, you're bound to know why. Sons Of Angels play smokin' funk-metal/hair-metal, and they do it so well! Solli sings his heart out, and it's no wonder why he went on to join big acts like 21 Guns (with Scott Gorham, ex-Thin Lizzy) and Psycho Motel (with Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden). I'm not the biggest fan of this kind of music, so I mostly keep it because it's cool to own these rare Norwegian hard rock nuggets!

Killer tracks: Look Out For Love, Would You Die For Me?, Could It Be Love
