STILL BELIEVE (2002) DEMO

Brazil seems to be the cradle of a new Christian metal movement. In the last few years we have been flooded with new bands, with most of them being easily labeled somewhere within the power metal genre. And while some of the bands that have released albums, and have recording contracts, really aren't that good, I will now show you an example of a band that SHOULD be signed, and given the opportunity! Because Soul Hunter have delivered one of the most interesting demos I've heard this past year. The 3 tracks are all power/speed metal sensations, with a confidence and variety even many of the more accomplished bands still don't have. BUT, there are some downsides to this release. First of all, the production is way below par, even for a demo. Track 2 sounds like a boom box recording from a rehearsal or something. And secondly, their vocalist needs to handle his voice a bit better. The man can sing, by all means, but trying to hit the highest notes, just for the sake of it, does not sound natural all the time. Try writing melody lines that actually makes sense, and hit the high notes only when they add a special touch to the song. If you are a fan of the power/speed metal bands such as Rhapsody, Freedom Call and Gamma Ray, this band should be to your liking.
