Stone Crusher are a relatively new band, but with "mature" members. This 3 track demo is the band debuting as recording artists.
I bought the demo after discovering the band via cdbay.com. It's always cool to find new bands that are in their early demo stages. Stone Crusher deliver traditional US metal. That means that they fill the gap between traditional heavy metal and thrash. They have a very classic sound, reminiscent of stalwarts such as Metal Church, Vicious Rumors and even Iron Maiden. Vocalist, Chris Dow, uses the powerful wailing singing technique, reminding me of power metal legend, James Rivera. And the vocal lines are what drives the songs here. The songwriting is also very good, with lots of different things going on from song to song. It's not all riff-based, but relaying heavily on dynamics and good meodies.
Stone Crusher brings nothing new to the table, but all 3 songs on this demo shows class. I am left wanting more! The bands website offers clips from newer songs, and the band is currently in the studio recording their debut album. I am looking forward to hearing a full album from them.
