Since Norway in many ways are the cradle of the modern black metal scenes, it didn't take long before the Christian artists started to use this more extreme way of expressing themselves too. Stronghold is one of the lesser know bands/projects. Their (or should I say his?) music is the slow, doomy kind of black metal, not unlike what the more known band Antestor play. Eirik used to be a member of the mentioned band too, before giving it a go with Stronghold. I cannot seem to really get into most of the songs on this short album (or is it a mini-CD). I will commend Eirik's work nevertheless, as he manages to make all the instruments sound good. Maybe the drumming could have been a little more exciting, but it has to be hard playing inventive at this slow pace. What do I know..... A little more to the point would have been preferred, as most of the songs seems to drag out, just for the sake of it. If you are a fan of the so called sorrow black metal, lend Stronghold your ears. Maybe you can find something here that I missed out on.
