'The Culling Of Humanity' is Suicide Watch's 3rd release. Only the title track (and the remix of it) are new songs, so this 7 track EP works as a compilation CD also. As of writing this review I am uncertain if we are talking about re-recorded versions, or if they have used the original versions of the tracks.

Suicide Watch is yet another act riding on the new wave of thrash metal. However, this EP showcases a band that is not stuck in a retro mode. Because the songs on 'The Culling Of Humanity' all have a modern flare to them, as well as roots planted solid in the past. I also get a distinct crossover feel here as well, but thankfully not in the vocals. Imagine, if you will, a cross between Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies and Blood Tsunami. This is fast, brutal and effective. The riffs will run you over, and the intensity is rarely let go. The music is very infectious, so chances are you'll have your fists flying and head banging along in no-time! Favorites tracks here includes "By The Time You Read This... I Will Be Dead" and "The Devil Rides Out".

On the downside I find that Suicide Watch lacks identity. All of the songs on the EP are good on their own (save for the horrendous remix, that is), but listening to them in sequence makes them sound a bit samey. These are minor complaints though, as I find myself hitting repeat as soon as the CD stops.
