The band was founded in Palermo, Italy in 1998, on an idea of Giuseppe Bondì (keyboards) and Claudio Diprima (drums). They already played together in a power-metal cover band, but decided to create their own music. So they started searching for musicians that had faith in their project, and found them in Maurizio Malta , Giovanni Santini , Michele Cristofalo and Dario Grillo. After the release of a 3-track demo entitled 'Sword ,Crown and Shields', they started to compose new material. This demo, recorded in March and entitled 'Perpetual Glory', was entirely self-produced. It received very good responses, and in August 1999 the band signed a deal with Scarlet Records. Meanwhile Michele Cristofalo left the band, and Dario D'Alessandro took his place. In March 2000 they started the recordings of 'The Lasting Power', their debut album, completed in April the same year. Despite receiving a great response worldwide, the band felt they were still quite young, and the songs on the album reflects their immaturity. In July 2001 Thy Majestie decided to record '1066', another self-produced demo, that was never properly released. It was used to "arrange" the new songs . But two songs were put on the Internet, and received thousands of downloads and great public response. In September of 2001 LIMB Music noticed Thy Majestie after listening to '1066' they proposed the possibility of a record deal, but Thy Majestie had already signed for two albums with Scarlet, so this was not possible.

My interest in this band was peaked solely on the fact they covered Stryper's "In God We Trust". So I bought this 4 track EP. Thy Majestie is a very typical Italian power metal band. They have much in common with other Italian acts, such as Vision Divine and Athena. But judging them from this EP alone might not do them justice, as it only contains 2 proper songs, said cover and an instrumental. And to be quite frank, I only really got anything out of hearing the cover song. Expect thick Italian accents, epic, majestic, orchestrated power metal and a helium voiced singer.
