Founded as a project of Danish and American musicians. The Danish founding member Ken had moved to the states after the split-up of his old band Avalon (where he played with John Mathias, who would later also join U.P.) in Denmark in 1988. At first they were named Unleashed Power, but changed it to U.P. before their second album. They play a mix of power/speed metal and thrash.

A Danish metal band that combines elements from thrash metal, speed metal and power metal ought to be a curiosity for most metal heads. And I don't think many people are familiar with this band. 'Quintet Of Spheres' was their debut album, at first independently released, but Rising Sun Records has since re-released it. Anyway, the album contains solid music, although nothing really mind-blowing. Especially the vocals leaves more to be satisfied. He reminds me a bit of a laid back Grim Stene (Equinox). Come to think of it, at times the music is pretty similar to that particular band too. Add to that a healthy mix of traditional German power metal, ala Grave Digger and Rage, and you might end up with Unleashed Power. If you ever come across this album, I'd say give it a try.
