Formed in 1985, this heavy metal/power metal band from Brazil soon gained a cult following. Today they are arguably best known as the band André Matos used to be in before he joined Angra. They are still active, though with a different singer, but haven't released any new material in ages.

Viper were one of the most European sounding metal bands from Brazil. 'Theatre Of Fate' was their second full-lenght album. It sounds very Helloween-influenced, especially in "At Least A Chance". And even André's vocals reminds me of a young Michael Kiske. They do differ some though, as Viper adds more keybords to their sound. And of course the addition of strings makes them sound quite a bit like Angra too. As a whole I don't find this album to be more than promising. There are just not that many great songs on it. The musicianship is good, but a few more hooks and memorable choruses would make a huge difference. It's still a keeper though, if not for the collectors value.
