Christian Rivel (or Liljegren, as he was called when this album was released) is a very busy man. He seems to love to juggle a basketful of balls at the same time. I guess Wisdom Call was the first sign of this. Christian formed his own record company, then called C.L. Music & Publishing, now named Rivel Records, to release the projects he was keen on doing outside of Narnia. As a result Wisdom Call doesn't sound all that different from Christian's main band, but rather these tracks sound like something that didn't quite fit the neo-classical frames of Narnia, but still were too good to just throw away. I have to confess though, that the mother lode of the material presented here aren't of the same quality as Christian delivers in the mention band. I actually find this album a bit plain and unmoving at times. But then again you have the times, like when I'm listening to it writing this, that I really love what I'm hearing! This is straight ahead melodic heavy metal, with Christian's clean vocals veiling on top all through the album. It's obligatory to mention though, that the band didn't have enough original material to put out a complete full length album. So they added a cover of Europe's "Wings Of Tomorrow", and also finished the CD with 2 songs recorded by Christian's first band, Modest Attraction. Those tacks are perhaps the best on the album, so it is a bit strange to add the 70's hardrock influenced songs, done by a complexly different band, on a Wisdom Call record.
